I am in Riverside and I am a SAHM. I care for two children who are 2 and 3 years old. I charge $170 a week. I have had this family for about 6 months now.

Are you licensed to take on a few children? Remember anything after 1 family you have to be licensed by the state. My rates are f/t 165.00 weekly, p/t 140.00(min. of 3 dys.) Even after I knew there was a recession, in February ,I went from 160.00 to five dollars more a week. I feel I am worth it and most parents will not voluntarily give you an increase when they get a raise so its all left up to me to reward myself. My parents didn't complain. I told them this was actually an increase of $1.00 a day more and they can spend $5.00 in one day on Starbucks. They got the point and understood everything goes up in price like the water bill and electricity of course. This year we got a slight increase in trash fees.

I actually do know about this part of the law because I was going to get my license, but decided to work at a local preschool part-time instead and my part-time employer mandates that employees familiarize themselves with Title 22, and the same website my employer refers us to at www.ccld.ca.gov also lists the law (Title 22) for family cc. I know I can watch a few kids from the same family, and now have two kids but I only charge $200 a week for about 35 hours of care per week which includes weekends. But what Title 22 did not tell me or provide any guidelines for, is how much to charge in my area.
